Cull’s three ‘R’s

As a small, family-run business, we like to think that we’re doing our bit to promote looking after our planet. It’s important that we act as guardians to protect it, as far as we can, for our children and our children’s children, to enjoy.

In just the last few weeks, we’ve hit all the 3’R’s with some new and some long-standing initiatives.

Reduce

We’ve had the lighting experts in… We’re in the process of swapping out our old metal halide discharge lamps to LED lights. These will use just one tenth of the power of the original bulbs. The energy efficiency and considerable lifespan of LED bulbs will help us brighten up the office and document scanning centre whilst reducing our overall energy use.

Reuse

We have a few engineering experts here at Cull… And as a result, our office staff very rarely need to buy a new computer. Instead, we take parts that have been thrown out or given up and we bring them back to life. The average lifespan of our office computers is a whopping 15 years – that’s a slight increase on the average 3 years!

Recycle

We rarely talk about what happens to the paper documents that come to the end of their life with us. If you leave your original paper documents with us, we’ll keep them for 3 months and then they will be securely shredded and the paper pulped and bleached for recycling. And according to the Environmental Protection Agency, recycling one ton of paper saves 17 trees and more than 3.3 cubic yards of landfill space.
